I didn't know what TMZ was either, so I Googled it. Looks as though it's a website (TMZ.com) that reports all the latest celebrity scandals.

It's now also on TV on Fox 5 in New York (Marylou may be able to get it - but would you want to?) - I think it stands for "Ten Mile Zone" and yes it does report all celebrity scandals.

I never heard of it either. From what you are saying, I don't want to know about it either.

You're right Wheezie, I can get NY Fox 5 up here and I love that station (how else would I watch American Idol?), but this TMZ is not for me either. I don't know who half the names of the young entertainers (and I use that phrase loosely) are anyway.

People who watch their shows, buy the tickets to their concerts or boost the ratings by watching the t.v. shows that feature them are partly responsible because they keep them going and successful. If the general populace boycotted these shows and t.v. stations that feature these mis-guided so-called stars and idols, then they would be forced to change and live right, realizing that people expect better role models and example of those in the public eye. But as long as we buy the tickets and buy their records and watch their movies and suport what they do, they will not have the incentive to change.
Take Madonna for instance. How dare that women take the name of our Blessed Mother of God then get up on stage and wear a crucifix around her neck doing what she does and living like she does. It's the epitome of blasphemy and she doesn't see anything wrong with it. Yet people buy her records and watch her movies and keep her going and successful and allow their young daughters to idolize her and grow up to be just like her.
The above is a quote from our Monsignor who incorporated that into his sermon one Sunday. He wasn't very popular with that message either. Goes to show you the mindset of some people in the modern church who have conformed to the ways of this world rather than being transformed with the renewal of their minds through the Holy Scriptures and who see nothing wrong with the likes of Madonna who took the name of our Blessed Mother.

As for Madonna, she has cleaned up her act and has become a writer of children's books. Her children are fine and seem to be growing up very well. As for her wearing a cross on her neck is her business ,there are many people that wear one and don't follow the faith. You cannot be judge & jury of what people do in their life. No one knows what is in store for anyone of our children or grand-children no matter how much you think you have instilled in them.

Lenny, the Church needs more priests like your pastor who are not afraid to tell it like it is! Too much PC...afraid of alienating the souls in the pews.

They may wind up not alienating the souls from the pews with their liberal rhetoric, but they do wind up alienating them from God when they fail to preach the whole scripture and go through life void of God's tenets and decrees.
"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is useful for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God maybe perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works." 2nd Timothy Chapter 3 verses 16-17)
They tickle the ears of the congregation with only what they want to hear and keep them coming to fill the till, whereby showing more concern for the content of the wallet than the condition of the soul.
It's a sad commentary on the modern church and the present human condition which has regressed to the antedeluvian wickedness before the great flood, and the days of Sodom and Gomorrah.
Now we need to cool the posts on religion and scripture before someone gets upset as has happened in the past and play nice with each other, or mom will call us all upstairs and put us to bed without dinner. Hey....anyone ever get put to bed without dinner? They put you in jail today for that!
